5 Things you should Think About when you're Setting Goals.

It's that time of year again! The season where we set resolutions, and gym memberships are at an all-time high. We often walk into the new year with high hopes and great expectations. Or maybe you're thinking, "I haven't kept my previous resolutions, so... what's the point?"

Girl, there's a HUGE difference between resolutions and goals. Goals are measurable and trackable. They are things you have to work at with consistency. And they are a LOT easier to achieve when you have a support team to help you keep going.

5 Things you should Think About when you're Setting Goals.

Here are 5 things you should Think About when you're Setting Goals for this next season in life:

1. Envision a well-rounded future.

Goals should work for your ENTIRE life. They should move you closer to the lifestyle you want. To the health you want. They shouldn't only be to "get skinny" or to "get a higher paying job". Take some time to dream about your ENTIRE life, and cast a well-rounded vision for your future. (Learn more about that process here!)

2. Pick 1-2 Goals per area of focus.

I have 5 things that are REALLY important to me. Above all else, these are things I want to make sure I'm putting effort towards. When I'm goal-setting, I try to pick 1-2 goals related to EACH important area. This way I know that my goals are getting me towards that well-rounded vision. (Want to pick your 5 Important Things? 3. Work towards ONE goal at a time.

I know… after creating 10 Big-Picture Goals, it's REALLY HARD to focus on just one. When you jump from goal to goal, you don't move anywhere fast! (I've learned this one the hard way.) If you can focus on ONE GOAL, you will accomplish it MUCH faster. Plus, you'll be surprised at how much closer you get to your other goals! A rising tide really does lift all boats.

4. Slow & Steady is always better.

Girl, STOP trying to rush this! Don't fall prey to the magic diet pills or the three step program that will magically build your Instagram following. I've learned that Simple Steps = Huge Growth. Don't hurry the process. Keep going and I promise you'll see your hard work pay off. Baby Steps, my friend. 

5. Check in with your support system.

There are going to be tough days when you're tempted to give up. And if you don't have a support system, you'll let that goal slide for a day… then maybe two. Before you know it, you're back in the same old patterns that you desperately want to break! Your chances of success rocket to a whopping 95% with a consistent support team.
