The dishes need washed, more things need to be crossed off my list... and before I know it, I've done it again. The week has flown by and I didn't take time to do the important stuff. I can't remember the funny thing the kids did (and I didn't write it down).
What am I talking about? I'm talking about being so caught up in the "daily-ness" of life that I forget to ENJOY it.
I've seen other people do it, too. Someone I know closely has said (many times) "I get so busy putting out 'fires' that I don't deliberately set aside time for what matters!"

Being purposeful with our time is something Alex and I are working on together. We are both BIG dreamers, but sometimes we get so caught up in checking off our lists that we forget to look up and see if we're still going in the direction we want to.
And, DANG, it's easy to get sidetracked! It's still surprising to me how caught up I can get in doing ALL THE THINGS. So here's a simple truth:
Don't get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life.
I remember when Zeke was a baby — he couldn't crawl yet, but he DESPERATELY wanted to go. He was about two months old. (if you're not familiar with all things baby... that's VERY early to try to crawl!) He would do the little "airplane arms" and wiggle himself to aim in the direction of something interesting (usually the light sockets 😑), and then he would get on all fours, and shove himself as far forward as he could.
You guys: He couldn't lift his head up off the floor yet. But he was DETERMINED, and he got where he wanted to go (much to my dismay!). He also had permanent rug burn on his forehead for about two months. 😂
That's the kind of purposeful living I'm talking about! No matter how much or little time you have extra, are you willing to set some aside to be intentional? Have you taken the time to figure out WHERE you're heading, so you can live on purpose? It's a lifetime pursuit, that's for sure.
Here are a few things I'm trying to be intentional about:
- My relationships. With my hubby, my kids, and my friends.
- My time. I don't want to waste any more of it!
- My business/ministry. I want to encourage women to the best of my abilities.
- My home. I want to enjoy it and take care of it well.
So, how about you? Are you being purposeful with your time? Do you know where (and how!) to aim your life in the right direction?
