How I use Quotes as art in our home!
Oh my GOODNESS, friend... if you've known me for long (online, or off!) then you'll already know I'm OBSESSED with quotes. It's amazing to me that a few words strung together can dramatically change your day, the way you view the world (or yourself!), and impact you forever. 😍
In fact, most of the artwork in our house has some kind quote or verse on it. 😆 Today I wanted to share a few of my favorite quotes... and why they're so important to me!
First up, is this quote. I think I found it on Instagram, or maybe Pinterest... but MAN, does it knock me over.
"What if your irrepressible desire for the sweet, wild, deep life is no error, but Holy?"
- Veit Lindau
Hanging above our bed are Alex and my favorite Bible verses... these were some of the first hand-lettering I ever did. ☺️ My verse is "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
This verse has helped me persevere through a LOT so far. ❤️ Apparently, I learned this verse at age 3... and (of course) there's a story to go with it:
I was staying with my great-grandmother, Nana Anne for the day, and she was preparing dinner... an Eastern Shore tradition: Chicken an' Dumplin's. I wanted to drop the slick dumplings into the pot of boiling chicken broth, and she kept saying "Katie, you're TOO little!" I wouldn't give up... and neither would she... until I stuck my hands on my hips and said: "NANA! I can do ALL THINGS through Christ who strengthens me!"
I got to drop the dumplings into the pot. 😬
Speaking of cooking... here's one I heard while watching a foodie documentary on Netflix. I absolutely LOVED this quote and hung it in our kitchen.
Here's another one of our family favorites, which I've hung on the gallery wall by our front door:
➢ And, in case this isn't enough... check out my Pinterest board for TONS of inspirational quotes!
Friend, quotes, sayings, and verses are SO MUCH MORE than just words!
They are memories. Reminders of your past, your future. Reminders to stay present, love-letters to yourself, your family, your guests... and a beautiful way to decorate your home!
I would love to hear from you: Do you have a life verse or a favorite quote (or three? 😆) Please share yours with me! 😍
