Read this if you need a Fresh Start!

 Yesterday the kids were (finally!) feeling better after having fevers for 2 days, and they hit a WHOLE new level of hyper. They were trying to launch off the back of the couch like rockets and fought like CRAZY. By 6:00 at night, I was DONE.

Whenever I have a extra rough day, I always think of a movie scene where the mother just gently ushers her children to bed, but encourages them (and herself!) with this statement:

"Let's go to bed. I'm tired of this day, and I want a new one."

I was chatting with a friend when I remembered something exciting: I have a brand new day tomorrow! In fact…

Every day is a fresh start.

We have 364 brand spankin' new days ahead of us, just waiting for the beautiful mess of life to fill them up. I mean, how cool is that?

So, today I want to share a few of my favorite ways to get a fresh start.

1. Give Yourself Grace.

If you find yourself feeling tired mentally, physically, or emotionally… then you are probably tired! It's not just in your head. You have a LOT on your plate, girl. Give yourself some freakin' credit for all the stuff you accomplished, — then GET. SOME. REST. Take a nap. Soak in the tub. Eat chocolate and watch a sappy movie, or go to bed early.

2. Be Proactive

Have you ever felt blindsided by a stressful day? Sometimes outside SHIZ does blindside you… but I'm willing to bet there are days where you knew it was coming, right? Look ahead for possible stressors and plan accordingly. You can say "no" when a week is getting too busy or plan an outing for that day you KNOW will be rough. 

3. There is Always Hope. 

I've definitely had days where I've gone to bed DREADING the next day. I know what it's going to hold, and I'm not looking forward to ANY of it. (Monotony is death to my free-spirited soul!) There is ALWAYS hope. Always! There is hope in this new day, and "It's going to be awful/boring/terrible" is NOT a set-in-stone fact. It's your perception. Look for rays of hope. 

4. Speak Life.

I've been a Negative Nancy sometimes. If you speak "death" over the future day (saying you're going to have a terrible, awful, no-good, very bad day)… then that's probably what's going to happen. Speak LIFE over every day, friend! If you're not sure how to do that, check out these journaling prompts! I use them Every. Morning. to help change my mindset… and they WORK.

5. Create a Better Plan.

If you're busy doing all the things you don't love… you're probably allowing those things to be in your life. You have more control over your days that you might think!  If someone keeps texting you and it's stressing you out… put the phone down. If the Christmas decorations are everywhere and you're over it… schedule a time to put it all away!
