How to STOP saying you’re “Behind in Life.”

We’ve all felt like we’re “behind in life” at one point or another. But I want to help you flip this mindset, and give you a simple tool to start moving in the direction of your dreams. You ready? Click to read how to STOP saying you’re “behind in life.”


As I was talking with a client recently, she said, “I feel like I've lost all the progress I made, and I'm behind again!” 😩 😩 😩 I know she's not the only one. We've all felt “behind” in one way or another! So, let's unpack this mindset so you can start to shift it.

The first thing I want to ask is: WHAT are you behind? If you're the one who is working towards goals and chasing your dreams… you literally can't be behind yourself. It's physically impossible. 😬 Even if you took some time to rest, or had a really bad couple of days (hello, PMS! 🙄), you still aren't behind.

The simple truth is, you get to decide. You get to decide, RIGHT NOW, that you're NOT behind. You're exactly where that you're supposed to be. There was a reason you needed some mental health days, or to binge Netflix, or to pretend the housework didn't exist. Give yourself grace, know that you're right where you need to be, and LET GO of the guilt.

Next, try this really practical tip:

  • Write a list of the stuff that's bugging you.

  • Re-write and bunch the “like tasks” together.

  • Now, write down how long you think each task will take.

  • Ask yourself this, and be HONEST: “How much time do I feel like putting into this?” (It's OKAY if you only feel like 15 minutes right now!)

  • See which one(s) you can tackle in the time frame you've chosen.

  • AND GO DO IT.

I bet that you'll finish more than you expected, and it won't take as long as you thought it would. I'm also willing to bet that all the DREAD you've been building up will melt away, and you'll realize that it wasn't actually that hard!

Now, one last reminder: When you're done with those tasks, MOVE ON WITH YOUR LIFE. 🙌🏻 Go watch some TV, eat a bowl of ice cream, enjoy some sunshine, or do whatever floats your boat! But don't let yourself stay stuck, and feeling guilty for not accomplishing the entire list. There's always tomorrow. 🌿
