How Simplifying could Change your Life.

Are you feeling overwhelmed or stressed out? If you’re constantly running around, and feeling like you can’t stop to catch your breath… or you’re sitting on the couch, feeling like everything is falling apart around you… Keep reading to find out how Simplifying could Change your Life.

A few years ago, I was absolutely exhausted. We had two (adorable!) babes in 14 months, finished renovating our home, and then we moved. It had been an exhausting season, and I was desperate for change.

I also knew that I was struggling with my health. I recognized the signs of adrenal fatigue and hormonal imbalances… so, I did the only thing I could think of: I NAPPED.

Like, a LOT. Every day. Sometimes twice a day! I'd get home from errands and nap. I'd take a nap after dinner… and then get up and go to bed. I learned that I could snuggle both toddlers beside my legs on the couch, put on Bob the Builder, and sleep until I felt them wiggling to get down.

As I slowed down, I began to see areas where my life needed to change. I realized that I felt guilty if I said “No.” (Hello, people-pleasing!) I noticed how stressed I was from constantly battling the clutter in our home.

I had no clue how simplifying would change my life.

Here’s how Simplifying could Change your Life:

  • You’ll find more Clarity.

Simplifying is like cleaning your glasses. The more you simplify, the more you clearly you see! You’ll uncover things you weren’t able to notice before — about yourself, the things you’re struggling with, and the reasons life feels so complicated.

Simplifying is NOT about getting rid of everything in your house and life and retreating to a house in the countryside. (Unless that’s your thing! If it is, go for it!) Simplifying is purposefully stepping back, so that you can have space to see what’s most important.

  • You’ll learn about Yourself.

Simplifying is an incredible tool for growth! When you start to simplify, you’ll learn SO MUCH about yourself. You’ll begin to see why you’re feeling stressed out or overwhelmed. You might realize that you’re struggling with people-pleasing (like I did!), or see that clutter is causing your life to feel out of control.

Simplifying is NOT about finding, or creating a “perfect life.” (Because that’s a total myth. Sorry to burst your bubble.) Simplifying is a great way to create space and intentionally look for areas needing growth or support.

  • You’ll be able to Breathe!

If everything feels complicated, it can feel like you’re holding your breath. (all the time!) And when you’re constantly rushing, and running yourself ragged, you’re likely to wear yourself out — mentally, emotionally, AND physically. (I’ve learned this the hard way!)

Simplifying does NOT mean you’ll never have busy seasons again. (Life will always be messy and complicated!) Simplifying is a great way to catch your breath (literally, or figuratively!), and allow your mind, soul, and body to recover.

My health slowly recovered, and the healing started to spread into other areas of my life. I ended up on a journey that I would’ve never imagined… and to be honest, simplicity completely changed my life.

(I know, it sounds dramatic, but it’s true! I once said that I would never teach online courses… and here I am, teaching online. Ha!)

I had no clue that taking naps would turn into would turn into Chasing Wonderment and a message that I'm insanely passionate about sharing. I was just sick and tired (literally!), and desperate for change.

Friend, simplifying could change your life in amazing ways… if you’re willing to take a slower approach to Chasing Wonderment. 😉 If you’re feeling overwhelmed or stressed out, maybe give simplicity a try! (Even just for a short season!)
