How to Live Intentionally. (part 1: CLARITY.)
Do you ever wish that you could enjoy your life? If you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed by the daily-ness of life (or maybe you feel guilty that you’re not happy or content)… You’re not stuck here! I’m here to tell you: You can live intentionally — and it’s not as hard as you might think.
Creating an intentional life (i.e. Chasing Wonderment) is a lot like putting an address in a GPS. In order to use a GPS, you need three things: Your current location (clarity), your destination (a vision), and the road that gets you to your destination (action steps)!
A lot of the time, we think that we need MASSIVE changes in order to enjoy life. You might have thought this before; “If I just had…” or “If only I could…” The things you think you need are usually bigger and better. And they’re always right out of reach.
The problem with this kind of thinking is that it takes the power out of your hands, and puts you in a Victim Mentality. These are limiting beliefs that are holding you back from living intentionally!
You don’t need massive life-changes in order to live on purpose. Most often, you need three simple things: Clarity on where you are, a Vision for your future, and Action Steps to get you there. You can live intentionally! Right here, right now — in the middle of your mess.
It really is THAT SIMPLE. (and also, it’s NOT that simple. 😂)
Okay, so the FIRST step to living intentionally is finding your current location. You can’t put in a destination on your GPS without knowing where you ARE, right? I mean — that’s why those apps always ask if they can access your location. If it already knows where you’re at, typing in the nearest coffee shop is the easiest thing in the world. 🙌🏻
In other words; YOU. NEED. CLARITY. You need to know where you’re at. And to be honest, this isn’t always the fun part — it can feel kinda gritty. I know from experience that it’s not always easy to admit your current location in life.
It can be uncomfortable to say you’re unhappy. You might feel guilty because being honest means admitting that you’re feeling ungrateful or discontent. You might be desperately hoping for a different future, but you’re ignoring (or numbing) your present reality. Or, maybe you’re constantly wishing for how good it was “back then…” so you’re not being present in every day.
I want to help you connect the pieces of your life so that you can actually live with intention and purpose! (That’s why this is PART 1! Click here for Part 2 and Part 3!) So, let’s dive in:
How to Live Intentionally (part 1: CLARITY.)
(Grab your journal, because these questions will help you get one step closer to a more intentional life!)
What do you think the moment you wake up?
I used to HATE waking up. I would dread it, because it felt like more of the same old, same old. The first thought in my head was, “UGH. Here we go again…” What a terrible way to wake up!
What are you struggling with?
Okay, please hear me: I need you to fight the urge to write “Everything!” List it out. Go into detail. Are the dishes piled up? Do you get anxiety when you go grocery shopping? What’s actually going on that’s keeping you on the struggle-bus?
What is your outlook on life right now?
Do you think it’s going to get better? Maybe worse? Do you assume you’re going to be stuck here forever? What do you really think or believe about your future?
How are you spending (or wasting) time?
OUCH. I can already tell you: I waste WAY too much time scrolling social media and watching TV. (I’m working on it!) This question helps you get honest about a lie we like to tell ourselves, “I just don’t have enough time!”
What lesson(s) have you learned from this season?
I don’t want you to end this on a negative note! This question can help you step back and look the bigger picture. Maybe, you’ll see that there can be beauty and purpose through hardship and difficulty.
Are you ready live intentionally? Give yourself space to get HONEST about where you’re at, so you’re ready to move forward and create a vision for your future! (Read Part 2 here!)
