How I Live Intentionally — My August 2021 Goals
It can be really hard to stay consistent in creating the kind of life you want. Setting intentions every month is a great way to stay focused and create a well-rounded life. Keep reading to find out why (and how!) I get intentional every month — so I can keep chasing wonderment!
MAN — Time has really flown by this summer, and I'm kinda sad about it. But, we're also getting closer to another year of school, (and another round of group coaching!!!) and I'm really looking forward to the change of pace.
I've got a LOT going on in the background this month, so it's been fun to sit down and prepare! At the end of every month, I set intentions/goals, and check in with my values. This way, I know that I'm being intentional — even when life is busy.
When’s time to set goals for myself, (or when I’m coaching clients) I know there isn’t going to be just ONE area of focus. I try to choose intentions that line up with each of my core values, which helps me create a really well-rounded life. Intentions set around my core values help make sure that I'm not ignoring what's most important to me.
My list includes:
My hubby
The kids
Our home
My health, and
Chasing Wonderment!
*Please note: Just because God or, Faith isn’t on my core values doesn’t mean my faith isn’t important to me! I’m first and foremost a Christian, and my faith is connected to every area in my life. I don’t put it on my list, because it’s intertwined with every value ON my list.
These values are the key to staying focused and well-rounded in all areas of my life. If you’ve never gotten clear on your core values, you can start by asking yourself a simple question:
“What is MOST important to me?”
I always take a minute to get brutally honest… and RATE MYSELF on how I did with my core values. Honestly: It’s uncomfortable, but very eye-opening. 🥴
Each month, I spend some time refocusing and refreshing my intentions (or, goals), to make sure I’m staying focused on what matters most. I do this by using a series of questions. These journaling prompts act like blinders on a horse — they keep my eyes focused on what matters most. This is SUCH a fun process, and I look forward to it every single month. After finding clarity and focus with journaling, I sat down and clarify my intentions for the next month. This is where I get specific and decide what change, growth, or goals I want to worth towards for the next 30 days.
Here are my August Intentions:
I also want to mention that most of my Intentions are usually multi-faceted. In other words, they’re not simple goals — they have lots of different pieces to them that I’ll be able to work toward throughout the month.
